Its coastal siting lends a special
atmosphere to L’Houmeau. With its narrow lanes, the village
mirrors those across the sound on the island of Ré.
In the heart of the village, the former seminary houses scientists
working with the Crema, a research centre in marine ecology
sponsored by the CNRS national science foundation.
Thanks to its four hectares of parkland, L'Houmeau is unusually
