I'm from Clisson, a pretty little town in Loire-Atlantique.
What first drew me to La Rochelle was its attractiveness,
as well as its location on the sea, even though I'm not into water sports.
Then, too, it was neither too big nor too small, just the right size to please me, without the drawbacks of a large city.
Thirty years ago, La Rochelle was already a favourite tourist haunt.
A lot of people came through, and that's how my collections drew attention, gradually meeting with increasing success. We had time to "consolidate" our company before launching on a broader scale. In Paris, everything would probably have happened too fast. Although I chose this environment for personal reasons, I feel that choice has also helped me professionally.
Life in a metropolitan area is tiring and consumes
a lot of the energy needed for this kind of an undertaking, whether my own or that of my co-workers.
Lastly, La Rochelle is infinitely charming.
Being able to bike around the harbour to go to work is a constant pleasure.
Today, I consider La Rochelle my home. |
